Gee, I hadn't fished enough recently.  :P
Fin wanted to trout fish this weekend. Whoa!
Ditching the carp for a day?
Lets go.

The river was low. The lowest I had ever fished it.
It was running about a third of the cfs I preferred.
I had a young bear cross the road in front of me a quarter mile before the destination.
2 white Foresters met at the trailhead, we got strung up, and hiked in.

The beardless, quarantined wonder.

The other highlight? of the trip was found along the trail.
Yellow Fringed Orchid. One of 2 specimens we found.

The water was cold. Meh rainbows were semi-willing.
We had to work for them.  :;!

We picked our way along, trying not to spook fish.
We saw some nicer fish, but they were picky as hell.
All bows and 5 beers for me.
Neil managed a couple of browns to go with his handfuls of bows.

Only 5 beers? Quit a little early,eh?

Looks like a good way to spend a morning! Those yellow fringed orchids are one of my favorites, too. They're fairly common here, it's the purple ones that are scarce as chicken's teeth.

Glad Neil got his yearly trout itch scratched.  Back to carp for him!

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.

My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

Truth be told, trout are very low on the totem pole these days but daily deluges left me no appealing options to chase carp.  It was good to fish with Doug again though...I guess.

QuoteBack to carp for him!
Please, stop raining!!!!!
