This week we floated the upper James.  As we left the put in an older fishermen brought his jon boat onto the ramp and said "I caught a muskie 38-39 inches - I always find them in the big back eddies with some wood in 'em."  That was good to know but I left my wire tippet at home and I need to tie some BIG articulated flies for the next float.  Anyway it did not take long to figure out what they were hitting - a fly I got from a swap on this forum.  Who ever ties the fly with a copper bead, copper body, yellow rubber legs and a black and yellow tail - thanks the small jaws loved it & what do you call it?Anyway below are some pictures.  Guests are not allowed to view images in posts, please Register or Login

Plenty of paw paws along this stretch I will have to float in early September so I make some Paw paw ice cream and paw paw nut bread (well the wife can make it)

Finally it was a good float.  I am slowly getting my friend hooked on fly fishing.  Plenty of small jaws all caught on a dead drift or the drop.  One tired dog and once again I broke the tip of my cheap 7 weight.  Anyway I am always looking to float but find it hard to get some volunteers to go a floating.  Also the next day I went to the smith got skunked and saw this...Guests are not allowed to view images in posts, please Register or Login

What do you use for the tail?

Transylwader

You are doing it righteous Bill 'c;
Broken rod, tequeely streamers, dolemieus, fuck, that's proper, by the way Murphy Brown is neither brave nor silly. A musky may decide that :o
Holla when you wanna go after dem goofy bastages, just got my 10wt. ;D

Transylwader

Damn Petey, your version is better, remember how we derailed the smallies with Cary? At least u don't have a video on how to tie your version 8)
