Title: Went fishing with Dad (a Pennsylvania tR)

My wife and I are having our first kid this summer, so when up in Pittsburgh for a baby shower, I went fishing with my dad. He's been talking about this trip for at least two months, and even bought a new rod just for the occasion. We hit up the Neshannock, a big creek about an hour north of the city. It's well traveled, especially in the two-mile long fly rod only section. We tried to stay to the quieter parts, but started the morning in the special reg. BIG DISCLAIMER: very few fish pics and they all suck.

Fished up about a mile of creek, starting where it split around a small island. I worked the lower half and saw little.

Thought there might be something lurking under this tree, but, alas, nothing.

Came up to this wide stretch. Kinda skinny, and nothing but two chubs.

Meanwhile, dad hooked up with a couple on the other arm (which I discovered later was much more promising) and landed one bow.

We worked upstream until we ran into two guys in the hole we were hoping for. Watched one guy land a big brown. Oh well. We headed back down the upper arm and fished the runs dad had already covered. Fishing was good, got into a hatch and were surrounded by jumping trout all around.

Here's the old man hooked up

Must be nice to be the folks living in that house.

Too many guys started rolling in, so we made for the diner. After lunch, we headed down into the gorge. Nobody there, and just some amazing deep, fast water.

I switched to streamers and on the third cast got broken off by a huge brown. Next cast, got broken off again. Maybe that Orvis leader was on sale for a reason?

Pretty great place to spend the afternoon. I landed another two rainbows after getting busted by the big brown, by dad couldn't figure out how to work the camera. To my surprise, there's smallmouth in this water:

All in all, an awesome day spent with dad. Can't ask for more.

Cool beans, sounds like the old man out fished the whippersnapper!

I use straight 12 lb when slinging streamers! -+;

That new Sturgill record is great. That's a hell of a way to spend the day with your pops. Awesome stuff.
