Hit the local pond by myself again today.

Caught two off the dock before stepping into the canoe - going to be a good day.

Last week I was bragging about how I had the hook set down pat with this new braided line - not so much today. I missed a lot of fish before I started connecting with any regularity b'; .

Fish were so so size but I was happy just to be out there - actually happy that I am still able to do it and that I have a few friends who allow me access. I am also very much aware that you should never take access for granted. Maintaining access is always a work in progress.

Fished for about 3 1/2 hours - caught about 20. All fish up to this point were caught on a Zoom trick worm worked about 6-8 inches below the surface.

About to call it a day when I observed what I took to be bait fish being chased by something out in the middle of the pond. I had a Pop-R tied on another rod so quickly made a long cast and plopped it done just pass the troubled water. No big splash, the Pop-R just disappeared and I was fast to the big fish of the day - not real big but probably 4 pounds. Good way to end the trip.

Got to love this place - I'd share it with someone if they promised not to tip the canoe over - I will not share the gate or canoe lock combo but if you are a reliable partner I fish it often.
