Title: Warm Water Fly Fish Clinic - Lake Rim
Post by: Al on June 10, 2006, 17:16:08 PM
We just finished up the Warm Water Fly Fishing Clinic at JEPFEC (Lake Rim) today. Had a good turn out and everyone caught fish. Most important, everyone, including all the volunteers had fun. That wraps up the clinics for the year. We had 4 basic trout clinics, 1 advanced trout clinic, hosted the Boy Scouts Merit Badge clinic and today the Warm Water clinic. Whew, I am beat!

It has been a lot of fun and I have met some fine people. Hopefully some of them have been bitten by the fly fishing bug. Can't close this out without saying that the finest group of folks I have met are our dedicated cadre of volunteers. Without our volunteers, several of whom are members of this forum, these clinics would not be possible. God willing we will do it all over again next year.

I have attached a few photos from today's clinic.

...and a good time was had by all.

Early in the day, the catfish were cooperative, taking an assortment of nymphs dropped below a popper.  I even had a couple of hits on the popper, but no hookups.  Channel cats give a flyrod a surprisingly good workout!  I didn't have my camera with me, so I didn't get any pictures myself.  That bass, at 17", was the big fish of the day.  There are bigger fish in those ponds,  but they wouldn't come out to play....
