I took a friend out to the creek from my last brookie report yesterday to try and put him on some nice char, and was hoping to catch a few myself.
we got to the water around 10:00 and sipped coffee and talked about how beautiful the area was as we rigged and suited up.
the insect life on this creek is absolutely mind boggling. no huge hatches of any one bug, but instead an endless smorgasbord of midges, mayflies, caddis, and stoneflies of all sizes shapes and colors had fish stacked in feeding lanes, and eating with reckless abandon.
for the next 8 hours we climbed our way up the steeply graded, boulder strewn flow. plunge pool after plunge pool, only occasionally broken by short shallow riffle areas. the fishing can only be described as epic. or maybe obscene. often with my friend fishing a dry dropper taking 2 or 3 fish from a single pool, and then me following with a nymph rig and taking the same from down deep. it was by far one of the best days of small stream fishing I have ever had..enough talk..here are some pics..

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
