Hit the river behind the house for a couple hours. Water was a little high and stained. I wanted to pop the cherry on a new-to-me 9' 7wt TFO that I got from TF a while back that was still unblooded/slimed in my possession. I paired it up with an old English-made Cortland multiplier that I had lying around the house, and hit the water.

Nothing of any immense size caught, but fish were hitting good. I caught probably 25 or more smallmouth, with a couple of them big enough to make the rod feel good, and perform some aerial acrobatics.

Also caught few rock bass and several nice big rooster redbreasts that bent the rod nicely.

As I was standing there wishing I had brought some water or beer, I felt something bump against my leg and discovered this gift from the River gods:

I was impolite and declined it. :D I continued fishing thirstily. I think that TFO 7wt paired up with that reel is going to be almost an ideal river bass setup. Enough backbone to cast heavy streamers easily, but light enough that a foot-long smallie bends it nicely, feels good wiggling, and makes the line sing. The rod will throw satisfying amounts of line with ease, and the multiplier Limey reel gobbles line back up in a flash. I think I'm gonna like it a lot.

Soon, dark clouds rolled in, raindrops started spitting, and thunder rumbled. I waded out and began the long journey of a couple hundred yards back to the house.

Right on. We went out for smallies yesterday as well. Caught a few punes, but nothing larger. No pics were taken.

Lower dries? If you're talking about the riverbed, yes. Mix of smallies, trout, bream, and sauger.

A dump from the past two outings at my local.  She isn't producing for me yet.  Caught 3 small smallies first time.

And yesterday I caught two, one with some tail parasite action going on.  Doug had about the same luck.

I really need to figure out the carp game.  Just not spotting many, needs to clear up a little more I'm thinking.

Fourth Fatty for bonus.

Evening pond photo dump after a brief Power Wheel yard excursion. Dropped by and scooped up my dad and headed to a pond.

The boy had a blast. Patience is lacking. Throwing rocks in the water is his favorite. It doesn't help the catching.

A popper was all we needed.
