At least you got out!  I am about to die to get up there.  I'll just look at your pictures so I can remember what fish look like.

I salute you. Glad you did not suffer through the suckage that was my day............

Dougfish

Easy big fella. Is that the repaired rod?
On the bright side, the days are slowly getting longer. -0-

Now that Battenkill is new to me, it was a 'presentation' rod and sold at an estate. It had never been fished before.
ex - I'm not going to live with you through one more fishing season!

My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

No wonder you were careful! Sweet.

Took the dog up to the field for a run, can't believe what a wind tunnel
the Smith can be. Got down to the corner pool and tried the dry fly thing
for a while, decided to see how the boo would handle a small streamer. Worked
fine and the fish liked it too. Just caught a couple and the we moved upstream,
called the dog and scared up some young guy down in the river, he had managed 8
or nine, he was headed on down stream and we hiked up to the upper end of the field.
Couldn't entice anymore fish, so we split and hit another section of the river.
A brief show shower on the way back to the car. Brief hike in to the lower section.
Tied on a new articulated streamer, too much marabou, fly wouldn't sink at first
and I wasn't thrilled with it's movement, but that didn't matter to bib boy, grabbed
the hell out of it and shot off downstream in the current, had to run him down, and no
I wasn't fishing to boo, put that away and fished the Cortland 8' 6wt. My small trout
net was useless. I managed to get a hand on the fish and get a few photos before releasing
him. The may be the same fish that I caught last year, the jaw has a bit more of a kype now.
Made my day, fished the rest of the run but nobody else was interested.
