Out in Montana they sell Flyarga a volatile concoction of naptha and wax or some other secret ingredients. Stuff is awesome as the fly floats forever! I was going to bring some back by Kelly persuaded me that it might be confiscated by the TSA, even in checked luggage.

I was looking to mail order it when I going this article and link to Ray Burgman's recipe.

Proceed with caution, not for use while smoking!

Thanks for the reminder. I remember my cousin and I actually made up a batch of this back when we were teenagers and they didn't have Gink and such for sale around here. From what I remember, it worked really well, but I had completely forgotten about it until your post. Seems like it sometimes left an oil slick around the fly, though.

This has come up too many times in my last twenty+ years of the wippy stick.  Time to try it.  Field test underway.

Brought a bottle back from my trip in May with no issues. Good stuff.
Think I'll stick with Frog's fanny on cdc though.
