I was looking for a new water bottle for hiking / fishing.

Hiking around pilot mountain there Are a ton of little seeps and spring flowing off the knob, so I thought I'd give this Lifestraw thing a try!

Next PMSP hike will be from the Hotel rd parking, up the mountain trail to the shortcut trail (little used but has old blazes, not on park map, but cuts off 1.7 miles up to ledges spring trail, up to Jomeokee trail and then back down Grindstone to the Ledges trail and back Dow the shortcut to the mountain trail and back out to the car 8-9 miles and good elevation gain too!

I like the lifestraw products. The filtered water tastes normal to me. I throw it away after the cartridge is exhausted and get a new one. The straw/cartridge is a germ spawning ground.

OOOOOOH what program/website is that?

I haven't used the Lifestraw bottle, but I have been using the Grayl Ultralight purifier.  It's been such a great item to have on those all day blue line treks.  You have an infinite supply of water at your finger tips, so there's no need to carry a ton of it on your back for the day.  /"\

PS: I'm coming back to add that Grayl has some great CS.  This thread reminded me I needed to ask them how to remove some mildew along the rubber seal on the outside of the inner piece that holds the purified water.  I've put it off because the purified water never comes in contact with that rubber.  I've scraped and scrubbed trying to remove it, unsuccessfully.  I just wanted to see if they had any suggestions, and they're solution was to send me a new inner piece for free.  Can't beat that.

A little warm soapy water and a thorough drying in between uses should keep the cartridge safe to use for a long time, I would think.  Admittedly, I don't know the specifics of the lifestraw cartridge, but if it is similar to the filters used by Katadyn products, then that should be the case.  I have had a katadyn filter for many years that has never given me any problems, but I am strict about cleaning and drying completely after every trip.  Of course, they are like $40 a pop, so I don't want to get into the habit of just throwing them away and replacing all the time, but maybe those Lifestraw cartridges are cheaper and it isn't a problem to consider them as disposable?

the planned hike... /'/

When not fishing, I've been walkingabout, today I did this hike... and took the Lifestraw Go, which I used on my last fishing trip and several hikes, today three more fill-ups, one at the mile in seep and the other two at the ledge spring.

Early on I ran into one of the former Panicle powerhouse workers, I call him Ebb, he recognized my right off. He was walking the parameter trail and asked about my pants, he got his hiking pants at REI and was complaining that they were too tight. I told him that I really like my Free Soldiers...

Later a couple of gender females caught up to me and I let them pass before I took the shortcut up to ledge spring trail. This is a blazed trail but doesn't appear on the maps and is no longer maintained. Up at Three Bears Gully I ran into a climber getting ready to go up and fix his rope. Next a women coming down in fleece. One other overdressed female hiker on the trail. Then a group of climbers at the last pitch before the no climb zone.

There were the usual tourist on the Jomeokee trail (around the knob) On the way down I ran into the hikers making their way back up to the top.
One other hiker on the circumnavigating mountain trail and a couple starting out from the parking lot on Pinnacle Hotel Rd parking lot. (corridor trail)

Really pleased with the Lifestraw Go.

did this little stroll in the park.. original plan was just to do the 2.9 mile loop, for about 4.9 total.
But when I got to the junction I headed up to the summit of the ridge where I discovers all the huge erratics pretty cool...
