At least you got your money's worth and made the best of it. I'd be damn happy to spend $54 to eat lunch there, if I had $54, or a 6 hour lunchbreak. One more week........
Don't feel lonely
I went to fish a tiny creek last week and had a car full of 9ft 6, 8, and 10wts.
Wound up fishing with a friend's rod...the second worst rod ever made (the worst being an p;-Orvis Clearwater). Wound up frustrated all day from how shitty the rod cast and felt.

everything was out of the car for a trip last weekend, I managed to get everything loaded, reel, vest, waders, boots, net, fly boxes and my new backpack / chest pack combo. While I was driving up the only thing that I thought I had forgotten was a newly refilled bottle of fly drying powder.
When I discovered that I had forgotten the rod, I loaded up the new back and gave it a tryout. Wasn't going to make it a total waste of gas and time... I enjoyed being up there and having lunch on the stream. I
