Title: food for thought...

It's about time...

When World War 2 started, the Civil War felt as far away to Americans as WW2 feels to us now.

Speaking of World War 2, the world wars were pretty close together. If World War 2 were starting today, World War 1 would feel about as far back to us as 9/11.

If we could ban religion and solve mental illness we could fix it all?

When you mix religion, ethnicity, race and the human tendency to want to lord it over those that don't fit our ideals you are going to have wars. Always have and always will - it is just that some conflicts are bigger than others so we label them.

I blame Dunbar's number of 150 and the cognitive revolution.  Around 150 humans can happily sustain a stable relationship.  Groups larger than 150 requires fantasy, myths/religion, gossip, laws, enforcement, etc.  I say we are screwed!!!!

Religion and guns have much in common.  Both are benign until they are weaponized.

I don't think joe public has the appetite to fight a war.  Most are overweight, consume a poor diet, play with the wrong joysticks, and lack necessary testosterone. Insipid flabbits.....the new masculinity.
