Bullshit.
This "article" is constructed such that it attempts to conflate the age of a particular geographic feature and the evolution of an entire class of organisms with the settlement timelines of humans, who we already know left Africa as Homo erectus  2 million years ago, long after not only the Appalachians but also every other mountain range on the planet had already been formed. So it is ridiculous to postulate such an area would've been settled first considering the multitude other suitable habitats for hominids nearer Africa.
The evidence? Some rocks look suspicious.
No they don't. I see rocks like this all the time.
