That's a big fucking poplar

The Dude

We got there and the fishing started off quickly like it was going to be a money day.  We both had several bites in the first 30 minutes.  Then the stream went from clear and fast to blown out/unwadeable/unfishable in the amount of time it took me to unhook a fish and untangle my flies.  It was cold and it rained a lot - neither of which was in the forecast.  The water temperature actually dropped during the day.  Ben managed the one brook trout the rest of the day and that was it.  We hiked a lot while waiting/hoping for the flood waters to recede and could only fish from the bank when we found back eddies right next to it.  I was sad.  Going back to work today sucks. I don't think I've hiked less than 10 miles on any fishing trip I've had from December to March.
I was born by the river in a little tent, And just like the river I've been running ever since, It's been a long, long time coming, But I know change is gonna come.

Such is weather in WNC, it barely even rained in Asheville yesterday, relative to the shit we were in.
