This is a popular hotspot. Figured, why the hell not?

A quick plan was devised. Studying a map, I made some decisions. Chose a road, a trail, a creek, and busted ass. It's always comforting when you see "MOST DIFFICULT" beside the trail you chose. Fun. Much of the trail was grown up. Bear scat and logs that had been scooted around for foraging made their presence a sure thing. I mean it is a sanctuary after all.

I see different shades of plants like these. Suggestions?

Would be a great place for a camp. Ya think?

I reached the water — finally. A most gorgeous and rugged place. One of the prettier areas I've fished.

Sunny and clear water. "This will be tough," I thought.

Not as tough as I expected. Second drift and a I lose a fat fish. A few casts later and I miss the same fish. A couple casts later I put a brown in the net. Not the same fish.

Brown town and nothing but. No rainbows — believe it. Browns were nailed regularly for the next few hours.

Huge pool. Missed three takes here. No slouches swimming in there. Fast rejections.

A man could spend forever fishing here. Water and more water. I was not wanting to leave. The lengthy drive and hike weighed on my mind. I made a deal with myself. I'd fish one more hole. I pulled two more browns out of it.

Wish I had a better zoom. A male and female towhee were playing about in the brush here. Hard to see. Male was strikingly handsome.

Took FOREVER to get back home. Miles wasted and the GPS gave me the finger multiple times. No roads where it showed them to be. Other times roads dead ended out of the blue. Got gas and blazed it back to the fort. A LONG outing today. Loved it.

So much water here. I'll be back. An excellent place for a group camp and fish thingy. Let's get it together.

Until next time. Peace.  :banana072:

I've only seen that Polygala/gay wings growing in a couple spots in my life. Good find! Nice fish, great scenery, helluva hike there.

I've never seen cows like that.

My flower skills are lacking big time. I'm coming along with it. Much abliged on the constant help with this.  d:b

Now to see if I'm covered in poison oak/ivy again. Trying to shortcut back to the trail that I just "knew" was there landed me in a see of fern and poisonous greenery.  [emoji50]

Also, at midnight or so when I posted this report I was so worn out that my ID skills were even worse than normal for wildflowers. Left the house at 6:45 am and got home at 8:15 pm. A long trip.

Nature has a sense of humor. Gay Wings was so elusive for me. I had never seen it in the wild. Then one day I stepped out of a swift stream and I was standing in a big patch of it. I just about had a big O.

On another occasion, I arrived at the parking area of a popular stream/trail at the right time. I had been there numerous times. That day, Polygala and Yellow Lady Slippers were blooming right beside my car!

Belted Galloways - beef cattle,   I have seen them around here and up in Pennsylvania.

Always a thrill to find good lovin in a strange land.  Awesome.

Yallerhammer

A rich guy a couple miles up the road from me has a ranch where he has some of those Galloways, and a big herd of very cool-looking Scottish Highland cattle that look like big fuzzy yaks, and a herd of buffalo and some of those African Watusi cattle that are very funky looking. He also has some camels.

This land here is fruitful and seemingly never ending. Much work to be done to cover these flows.

Did you see those "bee-buckets?" Interesting. Is that another way besides bee-boxes, I guess? Those were on the "organic farm" property.

Great report.....liked it all except the healthy lunch
