More winter scouting resulted in some good fishing today with my buddy Foulhook.  We hit a couple of south-slopers that were new to the both of us, and it helped keep us out of the north wind today that was definitely howling.  I got to try some of some new ties, a variegated olive/black girdle bug and a variant I've been working on of the LaFontaine caddis emerger, mine with CDC loop-wing.  Both proved effective, so no complaints.

Nick caught the bruiser of the day.  I'll let him do the honor and post the pics.

waste of a good, black shitter

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

Good job.  'c; Staying out of the wind was a trick.

Two for one trip report special.     ;D

Nick and I did a little more scouting today.  Fishing was a little slow.  We ended up hiking/fishing just over 9.5 miles round trip for a few rainbows, little overkill.  Tranny will be glad though because we stayed out of Transylvania County today.

My highlight, this dink took a dry fly.   Was throwing everything at them and figured it was worth a shot.   -0-

Yeah, Nick's fish was a McFatty for sure.  We didn't see any spawning activities, actually never saw more than a fish at a time anyway.  Oh well.
