This is about to be parked in my workshop:

Best part about it:

I am just storing it for a buddy of mine because his homeowner's association frowns on these sort of things in the driveway/yard/cul-de-sac.

Headed to a SC impoundment for the day on Saturday.

Items to bring along:

This will be a trial run before we take it down to the coast for some inlet/flats fishing.

Clemsontygerfan - want to spend a day on the water in October sometime soon?

We know so very little about saltwater fishing, but are about to embark on an adventure!

You can't land an otter on 7x. Now I know - Dougfish

ex - I'm not going to live with you through one more fishing season!
me -There's a season?

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

I suggest bringing some good boots.  You're probably going to do a lot of driving up to flats and walking.

I know a lot about saltwater wanna go? And I have a free place to stay

Yes.  My oldest lives in Goose Creek and commutes to CofC so I can crash there (and it has safe boat storage!), but I'm definitely up for some fall saltwater fishing.

Will PM you.

We began the morning by meeting up, transferring all my stuff to his truck, and promptly losing two of my fly rods (my first one - Cortland 4-piece 5wt & my Powell 8wt) still in their tubes - we think one of us left them either in the bed of my truck for someone to steal or on top of his to disappear on the side of the road.  b';  This was not discovered until we returned to unload, even though I suspected as much when we got to the water.

We did catch some breakfast:

and headed down to the lake:

Discovered that the boat doesn't like shallow water nearly as much as we hoped.

It needs a push pole in a bad way.

It needs new trolling motor batteries.

It doesn't have enough storage.

It needs fly rod holders, because the spinning rod holders are useless.

Bow-mounted rod holders are a serious impediment to fly casting.

As are trolling motors, especially when the batteries are dead.

So are bow-mounted seats.

And stern mounted fuel lines.

And fishing gear that is not stowed.

And I need a 10wt line on my 10wt rod.

And a bunch of bigger flies.

And I have a lot to learn about saltwater.

And carp.

And gar.

And stripping baskets.  Never used one.  Not certain I can get used to it.

Matt can cast.

His youngest is a trooper.

And he caught a catfish while trolling.
