Three day bender.
Thursday
One of the bearded wonders was planning a musky/smallie trip with Drifts, and I agreed to go float with them Saturday.
Long range forecast projected early morning clouds with a chance of rain, perfect conditions for an early morning sneak off to the river before work. As I drove up the sun started breaking out through the cloud cover, I knew the fishing would suck, but continued on, 'cause you never know for sure. Ended up spending three hours for one follow, on the second cast and one grab a little later. But it was a good way to burn up most of the day, and it didn't suck as bad as work.

Friday.
Then the other bearded dude called and wanted to go wading on the New up near Galax, so I met up with him at eight and we got to the river around nine or ten after stopping at a NANO Brewpub in Galax, they weren't open but sold us some beer, at first we were looking at a selection, but settled on a growler of Sweetwater 420. The river had a slight stain and the sky was partly cloudy. I didn't take long to get into some scrappy smallies and we doubled up a short while later. As the clouds cleared the wind kicked up something fierce and the bite shut down. After a beer'thirty break we fishing on and brought a few more to hand and left the water around five. We blamed the slow fishing on the front blowing in.

Saturday
Well the dude that set up the Saturday float back out, 'cause his boyfriend from Colorado was spending the weekend in town, whatever that means. I scrambled to find a third, but at the last minute it's hard to fill a seat. The drive up to Pembroke took a little longer than anticipated and I arrived about 20 minutes late and I hate being late, but I was able to call Drifts to alert him just before I lost AT&T cell service for the rest of the day. Being well prepared, Drifts resorted to plan "B"eer. By the tiem we put in the wind had stared to kick up something fierce, blowing up river, the high sided Bolder wanted to go upstream. Somehow we consumed all the beer by 1 o'clock, that would be 9 for the bugger and it's probably for the best that we didn't bring anymore, we did manage to get into a fist fight over the last bud, but no knives or guns were brandished. Smallies were just too small to bother with photos. Just another 18 hour day, let's do it again!

LOL. Were you still drunk when you put this reportage together?
Good stuff, Boss. 'c; And Drifts and G-Dog, too! 'c;
And is it my imagination, but there seems to a propensity for more selfies. Has G's photog styling rubbed off on you?
Fresh 420 is great. Even better on the water. Awesome.

Words can't do it justice even if it was a baby, he did manage to get another one to eat, but he dropped the line while trying to set the hook....
'c; 'c; 'c; Kudos on some great photos and nice report.
5x would never let anyone see the flies of the day like you guys do. BTW I hear he is working on a new secret fly but he wouldn't share it until all the fish seen it first. :laugh:

Also too much belly pudge and feet. Other than that, the report was most enjoyable.
I'm about 15 minutes from the ramp in Pembroke, stop by for a brew next time you guys are in town... 0:0 Would have joined you for the ride, but had a shindig in Amherst to attend, we probably crossed paths somewhere along the way. That's a really nice float, but the last mile to the ramp really sucks in the wind.
Did a short non-fishing float yesterday. Water slightly stained and still cool, fishing would probably be off the charts if we had a cloudy day.
That was pretty awesome...smallies never suck. V:;
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/04/evegume4.jpg)woolly with a smallie(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/04/avyzyny7.jpg)double selfies
Look at Drifts getting all technological with that double selfie postcard.
Bad ass bo!
