Once again I made the eight hour drive to Erie and was greeted with 50mph gale force winds, snow, sleet and vehicles sliding off the highway. After checking in to the hotel with a room by the back door and spending time wiping down everything in the room and making sure no staff would enter while I was there. I admit I was apprehensive but the lure of steelheads won out.
Fortunately, by the second day the weather returned to early fall type conditions and the streams started dropping and cleared up.....actually more than I like.

The low water was a challenge but long leaders and size 14 nymphs produced a lot of fish and some good ones.

Most fish were very hard to spot and were hiding under ledges etc. but sometimes they were out in the open
