This is probably a long shot, and I realize it's 10 months out, but I'm heading to England/Scotland for two weeks in May, and am attempting to get an itinerary solidified ASAP, because apparently everything books up over there way in advance.

I'm planning to do at least one day on one of the chalk streams for trout, and then at least one or two more for big pike up in the Lake District. Any and all guide referrals or advice welcome.

I've contacted one or two already through websites I've found online, but would appreciate any personal experiences. Thanks for any help.

Also, for the record, I plan to wear this every day I'm there.

Probably add a cowboy hat and bolo tie too.

If you do one thing....
Carp in the lake district.  Yes Carp.  Do It.  Google Ratherheath Tarn.
Ratherheath Tarn is the type of place that would make Bully, WMT, Riverbum and co crap themselves & swear allegiance to the queen.
You can rent a boat (row boat) fairly cheap on Lake Windermere as well.

I believe May is a bit early, but I've also fished the Avon river for Salmon & Sea Trout.
Wasn't exactly the pipe smoking wicker creel dry fly fishing I had expected, but the catching was a blast.

I've fished a handful of other small streams.  I'll check my notes this weekend on what was good, and what was too frustrating to bother with.

Mum lives in Looe in Cornwall. She'll guide you on the native brown troots. UK is utter rubbish at managing their streams. Everything is syndicated or some rich pheasant hunting asshole posts his land. Porlock in Somerset Co has some amazing shit draining into the Bristol Channel. I'd DIY it to be honest. Exmoor National Forest has public streams, every limey wanker wants to catch Leroy. Hit up those small streams. It's a hoot. Wales too and the birds put out like the shit is going out of fashion.

Thanks for the posts y'all. I'm looking into all of that.

Carp? I dunno. I got big carp and lots of them right out my door. No pike though.

I'd be up for the DIY thing if I had more than a day or two to commit, but as it is, I'd rather start the day out on top of fish instead of spending half the time looking for them. Since this will probably be a one-time deal, I don't mind paying for access to a beat, just for the experience.
