There you have! Today Herr Shuler posted a completely honest, straight from the horses mouth review of all the wrongs the evil people from the low rent board did.
And now... the rest of the story? He and later a couple of goons he molded, essentially took the finest board on Southeastern fly fishing with the finest fly fishers and tyers around and did his best to mold it into his own little world. Nothing wrong with that... after all, as he so frequently let us know, it's his forum and it will be run (down) how he wants it. Any input from old-timers seemed to inimidate him. Most of us worked at one time with a manager who took suggestions as criticisms and who ALWAYS knew better (and more) than the mere peons. He strikes me as being of that sort.
The situation there was getting so trite and 'Nazi-esque' that we did indeed voice our concern and instantly earned banned status. Granted, the smart ones saw the writing on the wall and simply bailed. Many others tried reason and civil discourse. That stuff don't play in a totalitarian regime. I never had an issue with Eugene per se. I had a big issue with tweedle dee and tweedle dum who banned me after the Al incident. It was at that point that I called Eugene a very choice word for letting those two bozos run his board. Never mind that those two started spamming my email.....
I am still listed as a registered user despite the fact that I have been banned there for a long time. That's fine and I wish him the best. Everyone needs a chance to make money and I knew the deal when I signed up.
My days of Internet forum shouting matches are over. I'll just wait and tell you in person. :D

Yes, you are right that I joined that site in late 2008. Before that I was a member here. Prior to that, I was a member of Flyfish South, but it went offline shortly after I joined (like summer or fall of 2007). I was not a member of any site prior to Flyfish South, nor have I been fly fishing for much longer than that. I don't tie flies, I am not an accomplished fly caster, I can't afford a bamboo rod, nor do I have a deep knowledge of hippie beers and microbrews. I'm not passionate about politics, but when it matters, I consider myself to have moderate views. Furthermore, I don't care if I am not a member of a tree house club or a gentleman's society. I couldn't care less if I am liked or accepted on any message board by the general population. I'm sure I'll get a gazillion smites from this post (just put 'em on my tab) and a bunch of folks will jump on the pile and put me in my place. But, I do have a passion for fly fishing and I seem to do good enough when I go to catch a couple fish most of the time.
So, I have a proposition for you. Since I have nowhere near the cool points that you do, how about I make you a big cupcake with frosting and a #1 on top. And in the meantime, I'll try my best not to cry myself to sleep every night. Deal?

I can't remember. I probably never even posted there because I was just learning to fly fish and was probably intimidated. And, as I said, right after I joined, the site pretty much died (2007). I just remember meeting a guy at a VT football game tailgate who turned me on to it and he eventually became my mentor for all things trout. That dude could flat out fish and knew his stuff, but health issues have since ended his trout fishing days.
