We have been delaying our annual Smith River Clean Up hoping the repairs to Philpott Dam would be completed in time to allow for a return to more normal water flows necessary for safe wading. It appears the repairs will not be finished until sometime in 2017, therefore we have decided to schedule a roadside clean up on Saturday, October 29, 2016 – We'll hit sections of the river where it is wide and shallow but for the most part will concentrate on the roads and banks parallel to the the river. Trent Hill Canoe Ramp (behind burned out Chair Factory – end of old Special Regulation section)
8:30 am until 1:00 pm (lunch @ conclusion of clean up)
Trash bags will be provided – Please bring your own gloves – bring waders if you're willing to get in the water where conditions are deemed safe

We did this. Virtual no wading. Muddy water made it treacherous.
Mostly riverbanks and curbside through Bassett. Papa's Pizza afterwards.
