Brent, Kim (disco) and I floated the Spriingwood to Buchanan section of the river, we all had a blast and Bren caught a couple of nice ones, I was having trouble getting them to hit the surface and got most on a deep clouser in the deep runs, even swithed to the spinning rod and caught a couple of nice smallies, a 14" fall fish and one bigun that jumped and snapped the 4 lbs mono on the spinning rig... as croaker said, 4 lb test in fine for bream, but it'll make you cuss when you hook a bigger fish! I caught about 20 fish, the day was HOT and long with a 2:45 drive on each end. I've floated this section twice and think that I prefer the faster water of the Narrows to Springwood section over this one. It has a lot of long flats and at times the wind was pushing us back upstream. Looking forward to Sept 8th for another James float (if possible).

p.s.

someone dropped our "lost" dog off at the vet's over the w/e and we got a call this moring so everything is right with the world around here....
ex - I'm not going to live with you through one more fishing season!
me -There's a season?

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

Anytime fishing with y'all is a good urn ...... thanks for the memories. They were real selective on top, seemed like the best pattern for us was a white sneaky pete size 6 fished slow with just a slight amount of movement ...... Switched to that after watching disco stay hooked up numerous times in the first mile or so of the river and that saved the day.  :)

Saw this guy fishing also along the bank

It's all about the numbers Ralph ;D
Good float and good company, the smallies were eager to say the least.
Saw a musky 30-40"....thought it was a log 'til it moved.
