Dougfish

I needed to get out. Three days of house guests, cooking, cleaning, drinking, celebrating had me jonesin for a stream. I hadn't fished in......a week.
This stream was one of many that got pounded with storms and flooding last summer and fall. So I hadn't fished it in 10 months. Way too long. Put the wife on a plane really early for a week long convention. Loaded up Ms. Wicked and tore on down the road. Stream side air temp, 41. Water, 47. Fuck. I might be fuckered.
This bitch takes so long to warm up. A few assorted bugs were flying, but I went deep. And started picking up fish.

Your host. 50's vintage dude and rod/reel.

Much of the stream is totally different, or new. The new main stem to the right in this section is 6' above the old stream bed to the left.
That's a shit ton of gravel and wood right there.  :o

I have no idea how recruitment stands, esp. last fall's brookies. Probably nothing happened then. But the fish that are there are chunky and strong fighting. And everything was over 6", some over 10". Missed and/or lost some nice ones. Lots of varied bug life under the rocks. And lots of wood of all sizes. I stayed hung up.

A good day spent.
And I'll be back, soon.

'c;  Sweet haul indeed.  Dem effers got girth!  No reason to give one flappy damn about spring fed limestone creeks when east slope free stoners produce goods such as this.

BrookieHunter

Some good looking brook trout right there!!

Widow-maker, no joke.

I wish I would've tagged along with you. My warm water trip left me very empty handed. I'd be game next go-around iffin' you're still open for tag-alongs. Good shit.

When fishing, a person ought to carry a flask of whisky in case of snakebite. Furthermore, he ought to also carry along a small snake.
