Was a full day

Made breakfast, washed dishes, went to church, donated some money for hurricane relief, went to a coffee shop, went to the second home (trailer), picked apples, ate lunch, took the wife to the park.  Oh, I went fishing for a little more than an hour.

I should've spent more time fishing this river in recent years.  I've floated this section once, but the water was too dingy.

The first of the duo simply wouldn't give up.  Best smallie fight I've ever endured.  Just 16.5 however.

This one was a tad larger.

10+ fish in hand in just over an hour.  Thank you clawdad!

Rather peculiar sight to see Hemlocks that are not dead.  Even more so, ones at 830'!

Great day!   'c;

I need to start hitting the French Broad near Marshall.

That's a hell of a stretch for smallies. I need to get back in there again.

Another stretch we need to cover for smallies upstream of that is on my list. Remind me to mention it if I haven't already. Some good ones have been pulled out of this place that I speak of this year. I haven't been to it in many moons.

Clawdad rocks. Told ya they were the shizzle. Smallmouth can help but kill 'em. I've got a BUNCH stocked up, so if you run low just hit me up. They're always in my truck, and you're welcome to them.

This ^^

He can work shit in like a boss. I need to work on that. You can get so much more done if you can manage time effectively. Many times when fishing is involved, if I don't have a lot of time then I don't try and get it in. Need to utilize time better in the future. Thanks for bringing that up, Doug.

I've been trained by FW.  Truth be told, the best time slot to fish for smallies is 4-5:30 pm.  it's hardly worth the effort to plan an elaborate trip & shuttle at some far flung destination when one can top off a day with an evening quickie, and not squander one's capital.

Dave, it is rather unbecoming for a man of your age to be referring to someone as a white trash skank in juvi slang. Perhaps you should start fraternizing with a different peer group;)

Dude, now you got the bronze back in my brain.

Here we go again.

12' leader

No added weight.

Dead drift if possible.  Slooowwww retrieve in areas on no current.

If you nymph without indicators, all of this should feel natural.

I'm generally working with a 9' or so leader length. If the run is swift enough I let it dead drift. Mostly, I cast, let it sink for a few seconds, (they sink perfectly) and strip back fairly slowly, but not dragging on the bottom. It works.
