Title: Dog's first trip.
Post by: Big J on June 15, 2014, 17:37:58 PM

Chevelle - Send the Pain Below (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpyRI1j9t6c#)

Let me start out by saying that a week in Disney World with the in-laws sucks.  I bit my tongue the whole trip and slapped on a smile.  She puts up with my fishing so I figure I can put up with her Disney trip.  The wife is staying another week down there and I hopped on a plane this morning to head back home.  Swung by and picked up the dog to go on a much needed mountain excursion.  Holly is around 9 months old and figured she needed to go out on her first trip.  She didn't do too bad for her first time in the water.

Many treats were given to coax her over boulders and log jams.

For the most part I get along with my inlaws.  It's just their whole fascination with Disney World that I will never understand.

The dog definitely has a lot to learn, but she's coming along.  I'll add cairns destroying to her list of things to learn.  Along with not to bite fly line or trample fly line around body.  She was also very hesitant to go into any water past her ankles.... This could be a good thing though for me.

Definitely a good thing!

Nice one J.  Fishing with the dog prob the most compelling reason to pinch barbs.  Chip devoured a #2/0 Dahlberg diver a few years ago and the only thing that saved him the pain and agony of being unhooked was a weedguard.  We lucked out on that one.  Would've probably had to knock him out with a rock to remove it.   ???

A tired dog is the sign of a good day.

YES!! that is a good thing.
I have 1 dog that hates swimming (probably because I've thrown her in so many times) and another dog that I have to toss a stick downstream behind me just to keep him out of the hole I'm fishing.

about to leap into a perfectly good run...

But good for you on getting the dog out in the woods.  I know it takes a lot of patience.
