Karl's back home for the holidays. He called to ask if I wanted to go fishing, duh?  I had to replace a lamp socket on the stove before I even asked for permissions to go. Ran out to the Lowes at nine, took a while to disassemble the POS and rewire it, but I was done by 10.
I made no effort to get up too early just planned to be on the water by 9:30. The drive isn't getting any shorter.

I stopped at McDonalds for breakfast, took my fly trap and boxes in with me. The fly trap was overflowing with 'used' flies and it was time to unload them and refill the boxes.  I should have done it last night but...

Found Karl and Mike on the river, both with bent rods. I jumped in and had a fish on in short order. There were fish rising sporadically and I decided to go dry. I was thinking BOW, but the fish were thinking something else.

Lots of different bugs coming off, bwo, crane flies, caddis, stones, and midges.

We took a break before noon, poured out a sip and moved on up the road.

Nymphing the runs proved to be effective. Got into some good fish, flubbed some photos. Lost a couple of good fish too.

Switched to dries and hammered them for a while, mostly rainbows but a few browns came to the surface as well. The bite turned off at dusk and we toasted the end of the day with some homebrew and fine Scotch.

Ran into Rhody, he thought we were the LAW when we pulled up and he hid his beer. We learned that his persistence working a hole had paid off, and we swapped lies as the day drew to an end.

Good job man.  You drink that whole bottle of liquor and then wade?

Shoo damn, I got to save the booze for right after I exit the water.  I'm not worth a shit wading after I been drinking...

Great day fishing for sure. Good friends and good drink.
The day started off with some fun nymphing action.
I started the day fishing a bwo nymph, but changed to a size 26 midge later that afternoon.

The day ended with Some fun dry fly fiShing. Bwo'$ were strong and so were the craneflys  I used a size 18 sulphur pattern and had blast fishing the glass water.

I don't have a computer with me, I'm limitted with a.blackberry so I'll post some pics when I get back.

It was a fun day for sure..............
