Plan was hitting stripers all weekend on the fly rod but that changed a little.  Stripers are running the Potomac still and are not making their way down the Potomac yet.  There are a few stripers in the mouth of the river, but they are spread out and far and few in-between.  I just watched my friend troll for them and threw the fly a little for kicks and giggles.  Had on striper take an umbrella rig while trolling, but my friend lost it right at the boat.  Low 40 inch fish and scary how much fight those fish have.  I enjoyed just being out and messing with the DSLR a little.

Trolling, hard for a fly rod to compete with 6 spread out lines and umbrella rigs.

But I tried.

The guys' girls came out for a couple hours and that is when we hooked up on the striper.  They let the girls real it in, and when my friend took over is when we lost it.  Should of left it in the girl's hands.

The next day I decided to swing by the SNP and get in a little brookie fishing to wash the previous skunk off.

Can anyone tell me why the top bug has an insect coming out of it's butt?

This was the biggun of the trip.

Water was a little high, but it made the bigger trout less skittish and roaming.

Evidence of Mike and his girl shagging in the SNP?

Big J., those are some nice brookies.  Good job young man.

Now, on a more serious note let's discuss your "bug has an insect coming out of its butt".  I am damned worried about you!!!!!  Who precisely is your soon-to-be baby's dad?  At Liberty U. what exactly did they teach you about sex and reproduction?  I have so many questions for you, my head is spinning!!!

The caddis adults in your photo are having sex.  My guess the pair is Dolophilodes, and the female under the wing of the male is wingless.   Again, they are screwing to make more little caddisflies!

 So that's how it works?  I was confused on the female being wingless account. I think the third wheel in the picture is jealous of the action.

Just looked it up on TroutNut.  Here is what they say.

"What a weird species is Dolophilodes distinctus. It emerges year-round, and the female adults in the winter do not have wings. In the summer they do, and in the spring there is a mix."

Any rhyme or reason why the females sometimes have wings and sometimes don't?

Evolution, an evolutionary advantage, over MILLIONS  of years,  more of their energy into making eggs rather than making wings --- look it up, you superstitious believer!

I believe in evolution in that aspect.  The losing of a feature or trait through genetic mutations.  The insect didn't gain anything, but instead lose ability to grow wings  ;D
