Devin and I headed out at 5:30 this morning to go to the Davidson River.

I wanted another crack at it, and this time I was pretty sure I might have some help as Trout Phisher had hoped to meet us there.

We watched a beautiful sunrise coming down I-85 this morning, the first time we have actually pushed the sun up on a trip.

Got to the River about 8:00 and was suprised to see that it was not crowded..... yet. after scouting for Trout Phisher with no luck, we decided to pull off in the C&R section and try our hand. No luck, and No bug activity.

About 9:00 we decided to head back down and see if we could find Karl, and sure enough there was his vehicle, where he said he would probably be.

The fishing was tough today again, but Phish was rewarded with a nice brown on a cinamon caddis.... Phish had a pretty good day with his purty boo stick

After the temps warmed up a bit, the bugs picked up too... nothing heavy, but a good variety, small size 20 grey caddis flies, some Mayflies, and larger brown caddis as well. The fish were picky and sipping.

Devin fished off and on today, only fell in once early on.

A nice 14 inch bow.... this was a special fish because this is the first one Devin has caught with out any help from Dad, he fished the seam, by a brush pile, set the hook and landed the fish all by himself, I did the release. He was really proud of himself.... and prouder that he skunked the old man.

9 hours on the water, 1 fish, and a great memor and got to know a friend better

A BIG Thanks to Karl, for the flies, for bein our guide for the day, and workin hard to try and find us some fish.

He ties great flies, and is a good urn to spend the day with on the water...

We finished the day up by the hatchery, of course with no luck. But it was still a Grand Day!

Oh, by the way phish...here's the hat.... with a few new bugs along for the ride.....And Peddler... Devin says "forget about it!!"

How can you not enjoy a day out on a stream as pretty as the D?  Glad you had a good urn, and sorry you got skunked.  The D can be tough.

Woolly Bugger

Like I said on the chat last night... it looks like your guys had a great day despite the skunk...

Like I told my son just the other day, somtimes fishing isn't about catching fish....

ex - I'm not going to live with you through one more fishing season!
me -There's a season?

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

Thank goodness the boy looks like his mama ;D
