I want to first off invite all to the executive officers meeting of the Smith River TU on Jan.24 at 6:00 p.m., at Ranias in Martinsville, Va. This meeting is open to anyone who would like to attend. I am hopping to get people there that have a real love for the river and anyone who loves trout or fishing for trout, anyone who has an interest in the outdoors. I was recently voted to be president of th SRTU in Dec. and i have alot of ideas to make this river better.Also i want to make the SRTU more than just a couple of meetings every year, i want this to be a fun organization and do more together as a group. On that note, anyone who is interested in coming and hearing new ideas and sharing thier own, anyone who wants to help make the Smith even greater than it is, is welcome.

This is a great opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with like minded folks.
Those of us who have been involved with efforts to improve the Smith River fishery know that there is not a "one shot solution" to fix things. A few years back many members of this and other regional forums banded together and made our voices heard on the "Weekly Generation Announcement" issue. That small victory showed that when like minded folks concentrate their efforts they can often accomplish things where one or two individuals would not even make a ripple. Sure it takes time and often more then a little effort - but if you don't get involved nothing will change.
I am excited to have BJ at the helm of the SRTU. He is young, energetic, loves the river and best of all wants to make SRTU a fun organization. All we need is more of you folks to participate. Come to the meeting on January 24th. Listen and also offer your .02 cents worth. After that it is up to us to keep you coming back.
