Nice Smallie from NY trip

This one's from the Mohawk River in Amsterdam, NY. Date stamp is incorrect. This was caught on July 1 at around 5:30 p.m. I know there's blood, but it's not from the gills. This fish swam away with energy and attitude.


This one's from the Susquehana River in Oneonta, NY.

Both fish ate a Flashdancer, size 4.

Here ya go.........

Hook: Mustad #3366, size 4 or 6
Tail: Maribou or arctic fox
Body: Braid, chenille, twisted flash material (any of these)
Wing: Flashabou, about 20 strands
Collar: Deer Hair
Head: Spun Deer Hair, packed sorta loosely, like a muddler minnow head.

This fly runs about 3-6 inches sub-surface. It is not a floater like a tightly packed spun hair bug. The flashabou is the key to this fly. When you strip it and stop it, the flashabou shivers, and it's so sexy that fish just have to eat it.
