Anyone own or fished an Orvis 7' 3 wt cane, introduced in 1972 as the 7/3 model?  If so, assessment of the rod and how it fishes would be appreciated.  Many thanks.

Keith I just got it.  It is in excellent condition, with 2 tips that have absolutely no set in them.  Checked the serial number and it is one of the first of its model in '72.  I was planning on dry land casting it this evening but with the wind/tornado warnings it may be a few days.  It seems very s-l-o-w in the flex, but I am slowing down myself, so hopefully we can bond.  It will at least look first-rate with the old CFO II.  Still curious about how it does on the water.

Go to your medicine cabinet and grab a couple of your viagra pills.  Crush them up in a mortar and pestle and add just a bit of crisco to form a paste.  Rub it on your rod's cork vigorously and it should stiffen and speed up your cane pole substantially, all while still maintaining a soft buttery feel.  It won't last for long, however, so you'll have to repeat the process when needed.

if it last for more then 4 hours take it to the nearest Whorvis repair center immediately.

You guys are a hoot!!!!  First I will not story to you about any recent conquests of Russian gals, or other females, like Mclovin.  I will shot straight and tell you that stiffness is no longer part of my vocabulary or in my wheel house.  And Dude, you are mistaken; there is no Viagra in my medicine cabinet.  I place Viagra on the same level of futility as male hair coloring and hair loss treatments.  I ain't interested.  Hemorrhoid cream, Aspirin, Vaseline, and methiolate are about all you will find in my medicine cabinet.  My dad, and he's 82, believes the latter three can cure most all ills, and I am beginning to believe him.  And I am also starting to accept that flaccidity ain't all that bad.  It is just one less fixation to trouble a soul.  And Peewee, nothing lasts for 4 hours in my current life, not even REM sleep without wakening to piss.

Now, what about the 7/3?  Can anyone tell me anything about this rod?

Merthiolate - Isn't that now banned by the FDA because exposure to it over time can cause mercury poisoning or something like that?

Rub it on your rod's cork vigorously

not too much or it'll just go limp again.

Course it may not be your favorite rod but I can guarantee you will be its favorite owner.

I thought it was Methiolate.....  Glad someone corrected me.  Any way I have a supply of Merthiolate, if anyone needs it.  I am sure the relatives have more.  Mercury poisoning?  That might help explain my drooling and why some of my kin have one eye in the middle of their forehead.

I did cast the 7/3 on the lawn this morning.  It is not that slow; it was a good trade.
