Was wondering if anyone would be willing to share any places with me that are safe to wade on the NC side of the New river for smallies.  I just got a smallie outfit and dont have a toon or anything.

Hey DD...

I have an extra toon... if you want to float the New River with me you are always welcome.

I fish on TUESDAYS, so if that isn't a problem, just let me know.

Thanks   :)

There are a lot of places to wade especially when the water is this low. Try off of Wagoner Road and off of the Nile road too. http://www.sherpaguides.com/north_carolina/mountains/maps/new_river_st_park.html

Just about any place you can get to the water there will be some wading near by...

Low Water Bridge:(I've not fished here but hear that it's wadeable)

ex - I'm not going to live with you through one more fishing season!

Also, remember, from the confluence of the North and South forks in NC to the confluence with Little River in VA, either the NC or VA license is acceptable, regardless of which state you are actually standing in.  Just find spots on the map where some dirt road follows the river, and check it out.  You'll see pull overs where other people have stopped to fish.  Any of the riffles should be wade-able.  Just be wary of deep swift water, and don't fish unfamiliar places when the river is high or muddy.
