Title: Bag nights: 2
Post by: JMiller on September 17, 2019, 08:55:39 AM

Been a while since I posted a report about flyfishing, but I recently got the last minute call to trek up an oft-ignored little drainage that happens to hold a few pretty, small trout. I packed quickly, bringing only the essentials.

Got up there, made home for a couple days.

With all the hemlocks dead, and half fallen, firewood was pretty easy to come by.

Since we arrived late and I ate half a bottle of fireball for dinner, glad I remembered the coffee.

Being from a little further west, sometimes I'm reminded we share the woods with others over here.

Muscadines are in season I guess...

Anyhow, no issues with the locals. The water was low, and the fishing wasn't fantastic. But we caught some.

... bear or baby 'squatch? I'm thinking the latter.

Didn't know the 'bows made it up quite this high. Good one for such a small trib over this way.

Hiked out on day 3. My back hurts. First time successfully managing to sleep in a hammock, but still not sure it's for me.  Also, it was at least a little bit cooler away from the lowlands. Fall can't come soon enough.

Nice report and it looks like that creek still has a little water in it. Pretty bow for that elevation. Glad you and Will had a good one -thanks for sharing

Very nice.  Anything involving trout off of stimis and elk hair caddis is a success.

Get your hang angle right and get diagonal in the hammock. You'll be hooked.

Very nice.  I still have yet to do an overnight backcountry trip.  Maybe in the spring...
