I spent a few days at the beach...fished in the surf a little, ate well, drank a lot, got a tan.  I got back to Asheville on Monday, let mother nature recharge the streams yesterday with some much needed rain, and went fishing for a few hours this morning.  It wasn't bad.

Damn fine. All the way around.
Slow? Shit boy, that was some quality fish there.

themidge

That's a good gose - they're hard to get used to, almost tastes like a watered down wine. Nice brown troot.

I recognize that foot bridge from one of your old trip reports I think.
I can't drink scotch.  Tastes like a spitter to me.
What beach did you go to?

I dig that music choice Ben. Thanky!

And good report man.

How is it possible you come back from the beach whiter than when you left?
It's all shit, piss and bliss.

You need to use your trout gear in the salt next time.

TheYiman

Great report.  Thanks.

Yes, I have granted access to this stream so I'm up that way a few times a year.

We went to oak island NC, shark attack central.

It wasn't bad at all.  Only complaint is it is 57.1% abv so it's a little hot.  I had a few sips at bottle strength and then mellowed it out with an ice cube and a splash of water.  It must be aged a bit longer than the standard ardbeg because the peatiness is fairly mellow.

See that's the problem, I have no proper salt fly equipment so I can't wreck my trout stuff.  One of these days I'll take you up on your probably long forgotten offer to borrow a set up from you.

Oak Island rocks. Been hitting that beach since I was a young 'un. Nice trouts, beautiful.

Yallerhammer

Cool stuff. I'm itching to get down to the salt, haven't been yet this year. And those are some damn fine trout, especially for this time of year. Last couple times I've went lately just low water and dink after dink. Hopefully this rain has put a little water back in the creeks.
