yesterday I met up with a friend at the local DH..
we both caught lots of nice stockers..mostly brookies but I managed the slam.
after getting tired of handling the mutants, I mentioned to my friend that I had spotted the
suckers spawning in a shallow riffle just down from where we were..he said he would like to see
that so we made our way to the spot..the suckers were there in the thousands and my friend was
excited to try and catch one..I had caught one earlier in the afternoon so while he fished for them I
went to a deeper run just below them and fished sucker spawn flies and managed to pick up a couple nice rainbows
that had at least been in the river long enough to look somewhat normal and knew to feed on natural food sources.
meanwhile he caught several nice suckers above me..not my typical day fishing but a goot time none the less..
here's a few pics..

That third shot down is...breathtaking.   :-X

Suckers may not be pretty, but they do put up a fight!  Glad y'all had a good urn.

If it will put a bend in your rod I say go for it. Suckers, carp and catfish may not be the prettiest fish but they are fun to catch.

Phil

I do enjoy my carp and catfish on the fly in summer. Yes, indeed.

Geez buddy, thats insane. I catch red horse suckers here in the Neuse, no where that size. Is that brookie in the first shot a native? Stockers dont tend to have the red dots cirled by the blue. Just askin'
Sweet pix brother!

Seems there are several of us budding Michael Flatley's out there. I hate the river dance, especially when it's a set of car keys, a camera or a bust knee o-o
