Fishing buddy from WV and I met up in Erie for our annual steelhead quest. It's eight long hours for me. We planned to fish 5 days but something called "lake effect snow" chased us south early after 3.
We found fewer fish than normal but had good fishing. On our last day we landed around twenty and probably lost eight or ten more. Small nymphs were the ticket and a few came on beads. I am always amazed at how hard they fight. Some were dime bright and a few were colored up from being in the stream for a while.
I took limited numbers of photos but include a few.

Damn, Fred. Good work for an old fart. bd;0
"Lake effect" sucks.
The sheer numbers of fish in those tribs is amazing when they run.
You caught some nice ones and looks like you had a great time!

Phil- for me it was the "mono rig". Got myself a 10ft 7wt. Syndicate for the steelies. That being said the fellow I fished with (you met him)used standard gear and out fished me,but he is a true master.
Helluva good trip,Fred. Thanks for the good photos

That's a great trip.....I've been making it with a few friends for years. Tough conditions this year but we had a blast.
Just seen this. Good work.
I backed out on our steelhead trip last year, hopefully I'll make it this year.
