Post by: Stone-Man on February 16, 2019, 15:15:11 PM
Anybody have any opinion about the Okuma SLV  large arbor reel ??

I have a couple of their Sierra reels and I like them just fine

I bought one years ago. Dont really care for it. Its heavy, and has free spool retrieve(no click on retrieve) Most cheap reals have this and I dislike it because the spool reels up when casting. Thus retrieving you handling line.

Other than that it holds line and reels.

Anything under a 6wt I'm partial to a click and pawl.

One of my Salmon / Striper rods has one and I like it just fine. My $79 Okuma works just as well or better then those +$250 reels I encounter on the same waters.
