What is this Stuff?

As I walk through woods, I'll come across a dead fallen tree covered with this hard white fungus looking stuff. Seems strange in that when I see it covering one tree, there are no other examples in the entire area. Tried to search on the web, but came up empty.
Anybody know what it's called so I can read additional information?
