Broke down

So.....I've been wanting to do an overnighter on the Savannah for quite a while. Over the weekend my trucks started shittin' oil everywhere...and went from bad to worse in a hurry. I decided to try to limp into Augusta where at least if Freightliner was gonna hold my truck hostage for a week or so I could go home.....and uhhh yeah....go fishin'. So now with the truck in the shop,and the idea of an overnighter on my mind, I also thought this might be the perfect oppurtunity to try to quit smoking...a couple days on the river...no stress...no place to buy smokes. Sounded good on paper.

I got an early start ....



It was looking like a hell of a morning at the put-in.....









Closest thing we have to a blue line...





Up top there were geese everywhere....





And persimmons ....



And flowers....



and bugs...





but would there be fish??  Hell yeah...first cast was this little jackfish



then a typical redeye....



was'nt long before I got this nice little largemouth....




Things seemed to be starting out really well. I decided that if I had two days to fish there was no reason to rush....though I was mostly anticipating some big smallies down by the bridge. So I slowly worked my way down, catching mostly redeyes along the way.....







And a little sumpin for my buddy croaker.....ya know its a nice redbreast when you can lip em'.....



I finally got down to the section I really wanted to fish.....my first smallie was'nt no bigger than a redeye....



But that was just one.....then came the slobs I was looking for.....



BYE BYE Piggy....



I proceeded to catch nice fish for the next two hours or so....







Swithed over to streamers and caught this fatty....(pics prolly won't do it justice)





or on this fatty of a redeye....



So on I go....to catch a few more.....





Started to slow a bit...and was catching more small fish.....so I took a break for lunch.....roast beef,turkey,capicola and vidalia onions....thats a sammich!





And then the douchebaggery started and my trip report ends....My employer calls me and says they want me to go with another driver to NY to recover a truck.....WTF??  And not sure how this is gonna play out...and knowing that my point of no return for getting picked up at the take-out is drawing near....I sent my wife a message to plan on picking me up when she gets out of work....and I paddled my skinny ass on down to the boat ramp...broken down, pissed off,  pissed on....so goes my "overnighter" .  Good news....I finally grew a set...and told them there was'nt a chance in hell of me wanting to do this.....plus as I write this....I still have'nt had a cigarette....two days and counting......wish me luck!  and thanks for riding along...even if it did go south in the end.

Awesome report up until the end.  Sucks your overnighter got screwed up.  At least you got into some nice fish, that was a pig smallmouth!
