Hmm.... Surprising "meh" on this show from y'all. I figured there might be some strong feelings one way or the other.

For those of you who've not seen it, I recommend it.  'Course, I like stuff like this - clever word play, many references and take off's on movies I like, lots of profanity, and and a clearly overall adult theme with an extraordinary soft finish. Not seen anything quite like it in a long time.  Sorta the same feel of MASH, funny and serious at the same time. Tears occasionally involved?  Maybe :o

So, if you happen to have Apple +, I suggest you give it a shot.  No real "football" (soccer) knowledge required.  In fact, maybe better with out it.

My $.02 even though you didn't ask.

Atomic veterans were sworn to secrecy for years. Now they're getting recognized

In the 1950s and early 1960s, the Pentagon conducted numerous nuclear bomb detonations in the American Southwest and the Pacific Ocean. These tests involved "atomic soldiers" who observed, worked on or supervised the explosions to study the effects of radiation exposure.

Nearly six decades have passed since those events, and the U.S. Department of Defense is recognizing these soldiers with a commemorative medal. Today, most of these veterans have died, with cancer and old age causing the number of survivors to dwindle.

Holland resident Ron Benoit, who grew up during World War II, was drafted into the Army in 1953 and trained as a military police officer. He and 29 other MPs were sent to the Marshall Islands. Benoit was aboard ship with other servicemen to witness hydrogen bomb tests.

Quote from: Woolly Bugger on September 16, 2023, 09:49:16 AMA 'slap on the wrist,' Asheville man says not enough being done to person who shot him

On Feb. 17, 2023, Adam Edmonds drove to Sam's Club with his girlfriend and then 5-year-old daughter.

Edmonds said he was trying to back his truck into a space when a man pulled in and cut him off, taking the spot. Edmonds admitted he made a gesture to the man, but he never expected it to escalate the way it did.

Edmonds said he noticed the man sitting outside the store entrance, watching as he went in search of another parking space.

When the three of them got to the entrance, Edmonds said the man started yelling profanity at them.

Edmonds attempted to create space between his girlfriend and daughter and the man, telling the man to back up.

That's when things took a turn, and 25-year-old Tristen Joyner pulled a gun on Edmonds.

"He pulled a 9 millimeter, shot me point blank, hit me in the hip, came out my back," Edmonds said. "Two Girl Scouts were selling cookies right behind me, maybe 10 feet away."

Edmonds thinks the man who shot him should face something more than the possibility of up to 15 months of probation.

"First time offender, discharging a firearm in a public place in Asheville is a misdemeanor 'slap on the wrist' from what I'm understanding," Edmonds said.

Glad to hear that the bench is getting some use!  :Dance

#23 - 77  --much cooler at 73 and down in the 60s when I left, slight overcast partly cloudy, gas $3.39

There was an older model F250 with vanity plates in the lot when I pulled in at two in the afternoon. Gearing up it looks like I'm going to have some Aquaseal repair work on the LL Bean Pro Waders' "waterproof" pocket

Found this White-marked Tussock Moth caterpillar (Orgyia leucostigma) on the bench, colorfull critter don't you think. Its one of those look but don't touch deals, you know they can cause allergic reactions!

I only stopped at Sally's briefly to scope out the water, look for the other fisherman, and drink a beer before heading on down the trail. There are a few Aphrodite fritillary butterflies fluttering about.

Since the water was still sained, I was planning to nymph today, but when I got down to the left hander's pool, I decided to rive the dry fly that was already tied on the rod. I waded out to the edge of the drop off mid rib deep and cast 40 feet to the run of the far bank. The fish were looking up and I caught a number of browns in a short time. A few of them were decent sized too! Standing in water that deep I can't easily take photos.

I moved on down and caught a few more at the trestle pool and there was even a hatch that lasted for a few short minutes. By the time the evening rolled around I had switched to a #20 bwo and caught a few more but still got a number of refusals. Realizing that I hadn't taken any fish photos and I was running out of time I snapped this pune.

Hiking back out to Sally's I caught a few more before leaving the water at seven. I never saw the other angler and the truck was gone when I got back.
