Good stuff as usual, Woolley! I hate a damn resident Canada goose. Flying rats they are.

I fear I have been either a bad or good influence on the forum with my heathen trout devouring ways. :D

Back to the river to fulfill the plan, stopped by the shop to pick up an unreasonably expensive cooler, I told the clerk, who gave me a discount, that I must be crazy. Iced down a coupled of sixers and made the drive up after looking at the radar. Just got to the other side of the fence when a pick-up pulls in blowing the horn. I turn and wait for the driver to get out, it's DRIVER!!  I tell him to catch two trout for dinner after reminding him of the 10" – 24" protected slot on the browns. I hit the water and cool off with a Lagunitas. There is a small number of sulfurs on the water and I spy a fish or two rising sporadically. The first two fish that I caught measured a little over eleven inches, so they went back, then I culled a little one and one around nine inches. Cleaned 'em up and went back to drinking and catching until Driver wades up declaring, "I've got enough for two," as he holds up a fat rainbow. Cooked 'em up with some cured bacon and chased with another beer. Fished until darkish and then headed home. Got caught in a violent thunderstorm, missed the turn for the short way home and had to drive an extra 5 miles in the deluge.

It felt sooo good. Wading socks make a world of difference. But a little cool on the nuggets though..

Good stuff.

Yeti? Ha. When I still partook in alcoholic beverages I liked mine room temperature, maybe a little cooler.

Trouts look tasty.

I needed some time on the river. Dad's improving and we're bringing him home of Saturday. This will bring a new set of challenges, I hope all goes well with that. Stopped in at City Beverage and picked up a case of the low rider for $24 bucks and topped off the Yeti. The air was thick with humidity and as I rolled into the parking lot the skies looked threatening. Packed the rain jacket and headed on down to the river. That was a miserably hot and sticky walk, but I had a cold one along the way. Once again as soon as I stepped in the river the rain started. I loaded up the rod with a sinking line and tied on a slump buster which had worked well on this stretch before. I resisted putting on the rain jacket because the humidity was so high that it didn't feel like I was getting any wetter in the rain. It came and went for a while and as the bugs started I gave up on the streamer and switched reels and began tossing to the few risers that were looking up. Then the rain set in and I thought about putting that jacket on but it was really too late as I was soaked through. By seven I bailed and headed home. This is the first skunk that I've included in my TRs, there was one other this year, but I'd rather not talk about it.

I have no regrets...

Damn Keith, in AVL New Belgium 12 packs go for $14.99 on average, and that's not if you get them at the brewery.

City beverage picks up overstocks and sells em at a discount. A dollar a bottle isn't too bad, some of the more pricy beers have a deeper percentage discount

Sometimes skunks aren't a bad thing-they just reset our perception of reality. If it was always easy, it wouldn't be addictive.  And we got some damn good photos out of this one.

Glad your dad is doing better. We have been having all kinds of stuff going on with my 83-year-old mother, and my wife's mom died last week, with an overdose of stupid family drama involved. My brain is fried. I need to go wade a creek.

A Smiff skunk is a badge of honor. I've worn it. Will wear it again, I'm sure.
Glad Dad is improving.

Sorry about your mom-in-law Yaller. We juggle our 78-86 yro parents. I'd rather deal with their needs than bury them.
