I've caught trout in its upper reaches, as well. What is really unknown about that area is the Boy Scout Camp. It is a massive chunk of land.
It has hellbenders, too.
Saw me my first hellbender this past spring on anther trib on the nc side.
The locals in these parts are generous and amicable as they come. Perhaps that is the reason why I spend so much time up there. Where were you raised, dude?
