Driver and I recreated our March trip of 2019. A little social distancing  from the rest of you assholes. Last year presented high water, tough wading, winter debris, and up and down fishing.
We had similar everything this year, except better fishing. With more debris. Jason mostly high sticked, I was euroing. Trees ate lots of flies. Sticks in the bottom ate lots. The water levels kept us from retrieving most. Since I was fishing a double rig, I usually lost both on break offs.  b';

The lay of the land/river.

We hiked in and started where we began last year. I lost a whopper brown who broke me off in a big pool. Nothing today. While talking and re-tying in the shallows of the tailout, I picked up my dangling flies and I had caught a sculpin.

Guess what I tied on next? Still nothing.
Lost it to a hemlock on the far bank.

Moved on and started picking up fish.

We broke out into some open water and Jason says, "I never catch anything from this run". Doink! 19" of solid butter.

We elbow bumped and moved on, picking off more fish as rain started to fall. A small BWO hatch started coming off and a few small fish started rising. Jason tied on a dry and picked up a few.

After collecting a good number of bows as we leapfrogged up the river, we called it quits and hiked out. I lost north of ten flies. Back to the bench, bitches.

That'll do.  That river will occasionally give up the goods.

Nice going.  Life goes on, and hopefully I'll get out this weekend.
