Title: 4000' Bream
Post by: Dougfish on July 05, 2019, 14:15:59 PM
We headed to WV for a few days. Anne has a friend that has a christmas tree farm. We were married there. There are 3 small pounds with lightly harassed fish. I threw a couple of rods in the car and off we went.

3 hours later and just shy of 4k elevation we arrived at the farm.

Pond one had little going on. I moved up to pond two and started harrassing eager sunfish. Nice plump palm sized fish.

I worked my around the pond and found a small group of green fringed orchids, a new one for me.  d:b

I finished the afternoon with a bunch of sunnie to hand, but no bass. We had a great dinner with a killer view looking west over 4 ridgelines. Fuk fireworks.

Slipped out after breakfast before the thunderstorms hit us. Eldest daughter, a recent VT grad and soon to be vet school student at U of F, joined me. Never fly fished before. Soon had her catching some on the 1953 Wonderod.

I had determined the bass wanted more meat. Tied on a wiggle minnow and tossed it in the water. One blew it up before I could cast it. Good sign!

Got chased by lightning. Went back after lunch and scored a few fish, but things had slowed. Retired to the shade, snacks and cold beverages.

No fish fry. Will put them on the menu on the next trip.  V:;

JT, really crazy hybrids. Some had mouths the size of crappie.  :o
