Earler this month my Dad, me, and two other fellas spent a week camping and fishing in northern Ontario.  Its way the hell up there, a few hours north of Sudbury.  It was bear season and we saw plenty of hunters, but no bears.  We make this trip every two years and usually we see bears and/or moose.  Well, the day we arrived and after setting up the tent, we fussed with a stupid dining fly and never got on the water.  The next day we went out on the big lake and portaged the canoe into our "secret" and unnamed lake.  Unfortunately others know about it now though cuz we found two old boats hidden in the pines on the bank.  We only had marginal luck on the big lake but good luck on the secret lake.  I was really looking forward to casting bunny leaches ( I tied) into the beaver dams and catching some big pike but it just didn't happen.  The pike just weren't in the shallow water yet.  I only caught one on my fly rod the whole trip.  But we did catch fish, and enough walleye to make an excellent lunch/dinner every day.  Walleye is one ot the best tasting fish period.  We kept the smaller ones and threw back the big ones.  I think everyone caught at least 1 or 2 five to six pounders.   ;D

All in all, it was a very good trip and I got to spend some time with my Dad, he isn't a young pup anymore (63).

Not sure where to post that one (Warm water) but I've been up there in August and it has hit the 90s.  Getting warmer there like everywhere else.

I forgot how to post pics, haven't posted in awhile, but now I think I remember (Photobucket not Flickr!).    ???

See any polar bears? Where were you when we were freezing our ass's off last winter?

63 is not old.  Try to remember that in the future.

One of my partners on the Alaska trip is 71, and the other was 64.  Don't write off the old guys too soon.

On the other hand, I'm glad to see you building memories while you can.  You'll treasure those memories long after he's gone.
