Title: Looking for a location on the Smith River in Va.
Post by: 19ertim on February 25, 2008, 15:02:33 PM
I will be near the Smith on business in early April. I would like to do some fly fishing while I'm there. Can anyone recommend a town or location?

Thanks

The town you will be looking for is Bassett which is just upstream from Martinsville. Scroll back through posts on this forum in the trout fishing section or the tailwater section and you should find out a lot of info. No real secrets on the Smith. Plenty of fish, just not a whole lot of big ones. Access is good. Some of the better fishing at this time of year is right down through the village of Bassett.

Like Woolly posted, be sure you know the generation schedule.
