Title: Three days worth of fishing
Post by: Get Bent on December 21, 2010, 20:55:06 PM
I  spent most of November and December hunting, or playing Hank Parker 3D as one of my friends calls it. With only two tags left to fill, I opted to spend a few days fishing instead of freezing in the woods.

Day one and two were spent on my home water, and to my surprise the fishing was really really good. Caught some good numbers and had the water to myself. On day two I was able to sight fish a nice 18 inch bow, after sneaking into position I made several casts and each drift was rejected. i made some adjustments, cast and  finally she ate, unfortunately I didn't get a picture, she made a quick escape once i removed my fly. The water clarity was insane , I felt like I was in New Zealand, even though I have never been there.

This should show you how clear the water was, this is an underwater shot.

Day three was the Team FAY Christmas party. Lee and Rhody met me over the hill in East Tennessee for a Watauga River Float. It was cold as balls, but again we had the river to our self. The fishing was slow but steady, and we even managed to fool a few on the surface.

PigletPorker,

Here's some words of advice for you.  Sit Down, Shut your Mouth, and Start Reading.  You will find more than you ever wanted to know about cathing fish on a fly rod if you utilize the little Search Box in the top right hand side of the screen instead of asking stupid questions.

Also, do me a favor and Google "left handed fly rod" and tell me what you find.  If you don't find any answers I am pretty sure some of the folks over on SEFFF would  be willing to help you out...

Well, since you asked, here is my favorite book of all time.  It is full of wonderful information.  I keep this one nestled beside my tying desk and often find myself enthralled, late at night, as Olive takes me on one of his adventures.  I hope you find the stories and illustrations as captivating as I do.  This book alone should teach you everything you ever wanted to know about the purest art of Fly Fishing.

THanks Wrector.

Should I look into tying flies too?  I can hardly tie my own shoes but I can't imagine spending $2.00 on one fly when a bag of zoom grubs costs $3!  But I guess you don't need that many really if you're know what you're doing!
