Hell of a day yesterday.

Major highlights are four major waterfalls scaled, lots of ground and elevation covered, some solid trailess bluelining and bushwhacking, and brookies caught at over 5,100'.  This one goes down in the history books.

I met John for the take-out shuttle at 6:30 AM.  We got back to his car at 5:20 PM.

First major falls in the distance there

Close up

One of about 10 brookies stacked up at the base

Second major falls in the next four pics

Third major falls

Double hook-up FTW

Once we topped 4,800' the nicer brookies started showing up, seemed like the smaller the water was the bigger the brookies were.

This fine specimen was landed at over 5,100'

4th and final major falls

Interesting about the bigger fish in small water.  Less competition probably
Yup, going fishing

Big J

That is has brookies at about the highest elevation in Virginia  bd;0

And I usually notice the opposite of you all in most streams I fish.  Fish get skinnier as stream gets skinnier. Few streams break that mold, but I like when they do.

It's all shit, piss and bliss.

I was born by the river in a little tent, And just like the river I've been running ever since, It's been a long, long time coming, But I know change is gonna come.

That's Ben on the upper right......

........and finally to the top.

When we got up into the skinny water, we were literally sighting fish and calling our shots.

Why you can't drink the water

One badass adventure fellas. Over the top reportage.  y; bd;0

Dougfish

Another stunningly beautiful and grueling trip.  bd;0

Catawba Rhodo and Flame Azalea still in bloom. Proof of altitude.

The stream Scott and I fished yesterday is similar in fish size vs. altitude. There it's a run/riffle transition to more plunge pools. Not what I'm seeing on your stream. Badass.

Woolly Bugger

ex - I'm not going to live with you through one more fishing season!
me -There's a season?

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

Onslow

That is a trip of dreams.  Damned hard earned goodness.  The brookie double and the brookie pool pics were the stuff.

Rhody

My picture weighs more than your picture.

It took us 3-yrs to finally get back to this trip. At 37-yrs old now, I don't know if my knees will still be able to handle it another three years from now when I'm 40.
