Gas $2.49 Temp 68 #6
Wet wading in February. After ice and rain and cold it was really nice to get out on a sunny warm day. There were reports of ice and snow up at higher elevations and I saw some up on the blue ridge on the drive. Many others took advantage of the weather as there were already 6 cars parked at the trailhead and two more drove in while I was gearing up.
I hiked in about a mile before jumping into the stream and fished up to the start of the gorge section. After four hours in the stream my feet were complaining of the cold and wet conditions. I didn't take the temp of the water but my hands said "Cold"! The fishing was pretty darn good, but I lost as many fish as those that came to hand and I flubbed a bunch of photos as fish wriggled out of hand and net and many just got off the barbless hooks. The battery on the TG died, so I was fumbling for the phone. Dry dropper, same flies all day, with only one knot retie. Oh, I should probably sharpen the hook on the dropper!
A few caddis and little black stone flies along with winter midges were hatching.

I do adore those underwater brookie photos! You need to market/sell some of those gems.
The pics take me back to my youth when I had a cheap mask and watched fishes and invertebrates for hours in the pool at the confluence of Back Creek and Little Back.
WW FTW
Splendid day. What is that rod? Like the cork and ring reel seat.

Recent eBay postings say I stole mine. One for $750 and another with Abel TR for $1000
I picked up a one weight superfine on eBay a couple of years ago. Those small orvis rods are a lot of fun.
Great report Wooly!
The colors on the underwater photos are truly spectacular! Thanks for allowing us a peek into the stream.
Damn great shots bossman.
Looks like a day well-spent.
Love them brook trouts! Great photos, Woolly. 'c;
Pretty damn good report. Glad you found some clear water that was not up in the trees
More please!
Which TG do you carry boss? Are the older ones worth a few bucks if I find a used one?
I guess this is my cue to start leaving the waders at home
Love those little mountain gems.

I'm shootings with the TG-6, I've owned several, and they have all performed well. So if you find a deal on an older one I wouldn't hesitate. I also shoot a lot with my iPhone SE
